Franklin College Switzerland seeks applications for the position of Assistant Professor in History.The position is full-time, unlimited with renewable contracts and a clear promotion ladder. The position begins in the fall of 2012, pending funding.

The entrance salary will be in the realm of 70-73.000 CHF.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in hand, with expertise in modern history, primarily but not exclusively European and American, and ideally with a global perspective. Expected is the willingness and ability to teach a year-long survey course in either Western Civilization or Global History. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in both teaching and scholarship and a strong interest in interdisciplinary teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in history, plan and lead Academic Travel, and maintain an active research agenda.

Conference call interviews will be followed by on-campus interviews for finalists. Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of a Swiss language.
